As we get closer to the release date of July 10th, 2020, Codemasters have been building anticipation with the F1 2020 driver ratings and split-screen shared.
The new F1 2020 split-screen mode for local multiplayer is demonstrated in a video showing three laps of the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Canada, with players racing the Mercedes of Valtteri Botas and the Racing Point of Lance Stroll.
Obviously people either appreciate the inclusion of local multiplayer, or just won’t use it. So it’s not a contentious addition for F1 2020.
Unlike driver ratings.
F1 2020 Driver Ratings
A big part of F1 2020 is the new My Team mode which allows you to become a driver manager. And in addition to sorting your sponsors, and livery, it also means hiring a team-mate.
That’s where the F1 2020 driver ratings come in. Each competitor in the 2020 Formula One championship gets scored in four categories. There’s Experience for driving hisory, and a high score unlocks more “Resource Points” for car upgrades and R&D. Pace refers to their outright speed, while Racecraft applies to how well they can gain and hold positions on track. And finally comes Awareness to show how well they cope with pressure.
Each driver also has a contract buyout fee, and a salary level which you’ll need to look at, unless you want to risk running out of money.
If you’ve ever seen how professional footballers or American football stars respond to annual Fifa and Madden player ratings, you can imagine the discussion this might have caused.
Aside from the general online response, Charles Leclerc has responded to some of the scores via his Twitch channel.
“I saw some. For me, some are not appropriate, not very well rated. Like, I think George was very low and his quick. If you put him in the right car, he is as quick as the best”
Either way, the entire list is available for you to debate from now until the internet stops working.
So there’s definitely a positive with the demonstration of the split-screen local multiplayer for F1 2020. And something to discuss with the new F1 2020 driver rankings causing some controversy.
