We’ve slipped a little behind with our Euro Truck Simulator 2 at the start of June, so it’s time to rectify that. And SCS Software have been busy, with both the FH Tuning Pack and Operation Genoa Bridge appearing.
The FH Tuning Pack is paid DLC to add a whole range of customisation to your Volvo, and is accompanied by a free update which also has some new items and tuning parts for the Swedish haulage truck. Which is good news for me personally, as the Volvo is my main truck in both Euro Truck Simulator 2, and American Truck Simulator.
Meanwhile Operation Genoa Bridge is a new community event running for a few days to echo the real world construction taking place of a new bridge between Italy and France. It’s been an important project not only due to the importance of local trasnportation and trade, but also due to the tragic collapse of a section of the previous road viaduct in 2018 which resulted in 43 deaths.
So SCS Software has chosen to honour the efforts of the teams working around the clock to build the new bridge, by asking the game community to help deliver and remove supplies. And in-game events are always fun ways to contribute as part of the ETS 2 community, as we’ve seen from the Trucks at Home, Pink Ribbon , Goodyear Challenge, and Christmas events.
The Euro Truck Simulator 2 FH Tuning Pack
Euro Truck Simulator 2 includes both the FH and FH 16 Classic trucks. And it’s a popular choice for a lot of gamers, including myself. So the FH Tuning Pack adds more than 80 exterior cusomisation options. These include chassic covers, rear bumpers, exhausts, sun shiels, lights, stone guards and more, down to mudflaps and door trims.
And as you spend so much time inside your truck, there are also lots of new cabin accessories including curtains, dashboard tables and LED logos. So it’s a good way to show your love of Volvo trucks, and it’s available on Steam now for £2.79.
But even if you don’t purchase the DLC pack, a new update has also added a selection of new items for the Volvo FH trucks as part of the base game. So you can choose from items including a new front bumper, small lights slots, engine badges, front grille, removable deflectors and more.
So either way, FH truck drivers have a reason to check out their options in the in-game Volvo dealerships.
ETS 2: Operation Genoa Bridge
The Operation Genoa Bridge event was introduced into Euro Truck Simulator 2 on Thursday, June 4th, 2020. And unlike most other events, it doesn’t have a firm end date. Instead, it will be down to how quickly the personal and community goals are met – with a little extra time for those who might have non-gaming commitments.
The personal goal is to make at least 6 deliveries to, or from, both the East bridge depot at CDE EST, and 6 deliveries to, or from, the West depot at CDE OVEST. Your reward for completing these will be a personal World of Trucks Achievement and a new ETS2 truck Terra Constructor paint scheme.
The community goal is for each depot to reach a total of 500,000 deliveres. At that point, Euro Truck Simulator 2 will be updated with the new bridge, and anyone that has completed their personal goal will also get a hanging plush Terra Road Roller to add to their truck cab.
As always, you’ll need to have signed up to the community at World of Trucks to take part, and linked that account to your Euro Truck Simulator 2 game profile. Fortunately, that only takes a couple of minutes. And it also means you can see combined stats for both games, which can be pretty interesting.
To perform Operation Genoa Bridge deliveries, you’ll need to be at either the depots, or the following cities:
- Turin
- Milan
- Verona
- Suzzara
- Parma
- Bologna
- Florence
- Livorno
You’ll then be able to select the appropriate jobs from the External Contracts on offer.
The ETS 2 Operation Genoa Bridge event has been set up so that you can take part if you own the base game. But more options for cargo and cities will be available if you also have the Italia DLC. Fortunately, there’s a limited time Operation Genoa Bridge bundle available on Steam. If you need to buy the game, the Italian DLC, and also fancy picking up the Italian Paint Jobs Pack and Window Flags pack, it’s 76% off at £7.22 for everything.
That’s cheaper than buying the base game, or just the Italia DLC on it’s own, as neither are currently discounted. But if you already own Euro Truck Simulator 2, the bundle discount will apply to just the parts you don’t have, so you can get the Italia DLC and cosmetic packs for 76% off, which works out to £3.62. Which is what I did, to enable me to drive to and from more Italian cities, and get access to different types of cargo.
