It’s good to see that sim racing developers are still managing to get updates out to racers, despite the challenging situation we’re all currently in. The latest example is iRacing 2020 Season 2 Patch 1, which has just been released.
It’s not the biggest hotfix change list, but has some broadcasting improvements, which are good considering the increase in popularity for watching virtual motorsport right now. And some tweaks to the aerodynamics of the NASCAR Cup cars.
The iRacing 2020 Season 2 Build was released at the start of March, including the new Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR, and the addition of the Lankebanen circuit along with a rebuilt Texas Motor Speedway.

SIMULATOR:
Rendering
– Reduced sparkling effects from lights at night.
Broadcast Mode
– Fixed an issue where headlights could have a ghostly bloom appearance in broadcast mode.
– Fixed an issue with shadows at night while in broadcast mode.
– Fixed an issue where low resolution particles and post processing effects were freeing and recreating render targets every frame, when split screen broadcast mode is enabled. This may have been impacting performance speed.
CARS:
HPD ARX-01c
– Baseline setup has been updated.
NASCAR Cup Chevrolet Camaro ZL1
– Aerodynamics while in traffic have been adjusted.
NASCAR Cup Ford Mustang
– Aerodynamics while in traffic have been adjusted.
NASCAR Cup Toyota Camry
– Aerodynamics while in traffic have been adjusted.
TRACKS:
Lånkebanen (Hell RX)
– Improved normal (bump) map for gravel area edges.
