There’s important iRacing news for racers in the American series, with 3 new NASCAR XFINITY cars for season 4.
The Season 4 2019 build update will include the Ford Mustang, Toyota Supra and Chevrolet Camaro. Each of the new cars will be priced at $11.95, but if you bought the predecessor of each vehicle in the last 24 months, you’ll get the new versions for free (or $5 in credit if you purchased them more than two years ago).
So that’s the NASCAR XFINITY Toyota Camry, along with the current versions of the Mustang and Camaro. Those versions will be made free, and listed as ‘archived’ if you want to drive them.
Also just announced is that the Kia Optima will be made free, rather than the current cost of $11.95. Which will open up some new racing options for new players or those not wanting to buy the Kia license.
iRacing staff have revealed that the new cars are being essentially rebuilt from scratch, hence the need to replace the older car models.
The previous XFINITY cars have been around for a few years now, so it’s about time that they receive an update to maintain parity with the real world racing versions. And hopefully the Kia Optima will get a big jump in usage when it becomes free.
If you haven’t tried iRacing yet on the PC, prices start from $13 per month, reducing for longer subscription periods, and there’s currently a 40% discount for new members.
For that price, you get 20 cars and 21 tracks, with around 80 more cars, and a similar number of tracks, available for an additional cost. You retain access to all content while your subscription is active. If you’re tempted to sign up, visiting the iRacing website, here.
