Fancy competing for a €25,000 fund price fund and the chance to attend a live final in Malaysia, along with competing against professional World Touring Car Cup racers? The RaceRoom Esports WTCR Oscaro 2019 season has started, and it’s both free to download the game and join the competition.
It’s the second year that the online version of the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup with Oscaro has been held in RaceRoom, due to a partnership between developers Sector3 Studios and WTCR promoters Eurosport Events.
There are 7 rounds, with each featuring a qualification time attack period which is now underway, followed by multiplayer races. At each round, the top division will be streamed live on Facebook, Youtube and Twitch, and several WTCR drivers will be taking part in the action.
How to enter the RaceRoom Esports WTCR Oscaro 2019
You’ll need a PC, and to download RaceRoom Racing Experience for free – it’s available via Steam. When you start the game, in addition to the content always available, you’ll see a big promotion for the WTCR event, and following that will give you the list of circuits and qualifying details.
The time attack qualifying is already open, and you get free access to the cars and tracks for the duration of the event, which is pretty awesome. So you can choose from the current Seat, Audi, Honda, Hyundai, and Alfa Romeo to try and set your best laps.
In addition, there will be regional qualifiers for drivers from the Americas, Asia and Oceania as well as a Russian qualifier for the first time. And a total of 13 drivers will secure their participation for the live final event, with eight of the finalists coming from the Esports WTCR OSCARO Multiplayer Championship. Some of the prize fund will be used for travel support to get the finalists to the live round.
Following qualification, the top 120 drivers will be emailed a few days before each race to confirm their participation. Confirm your spot and choice of car, and away you go. You can use a different car for the race than you qualified with, but you then need to stick with it for all multiplayer events, with a livery assigned by RaceRoom.
