The Project CARS Racing Icons Car Pack is now available. It’s the first major content pack for the game, having previously given a free W Motors Lyyan Hypersport to all players in May, along with a free Community Liveries pack of 10 designs.
The Project CARS Racing Icons Pack includes:
- 1997 McLaren F1 GTR Longtail
- 1998 Mercedes-Benz CLK LM
- 1999 BMW LMR V12
- 2003 Bentley EXP Speed 8
- 2013 Bentley Continental GT GT3
You’ll also be able to pick up the previous Modified and Limited Edition car packs which were available to those who pre-ordered Project CARS.
The Project CARS Racing Icons Car Pack costs 2.99 Euros on Steam and consoles.
Interestingly, Project CARS has explicitly ruled out any plans to run a Turn 10 Forza-style Season Pass for DLC, with ‘Project CARS On Demand’ providing ‘continual free updates that improve and expand upon the original core game, free cars and vehicle liveries delivered at no extra charge, and additional content made available without the usual obligation to purchase a long-term season pass’.
To be fair, any game with a Season Pass also allows individual downloads. But at 2.99 for 5 cars, the Racing Icons Car Pack seems reasonable value for GT fans.
The first Track Expansion is promised for July, which is what we’re looking forward to – so far console games, particularly for the Xbox, have been reluctant to add or update tracks. Having raced some tracks throughout the history of Forza, for example, any chance to visit a different venue is always welcome!
