How do you survive the wait for a new bike racing season? What else but games?! Join us for Part 1 of ‘Bikes!’
Despite a wealth of racing categories, a long history and excitement that at least matches anything from four-wheeled pursuits, motorbike games have a chequered past.
For all that two wheels can offer, game releases over the years have been relatively few. Yet like cars, in theory, biking’s racing world has never been short of varied disciplines to inspire developers or players.
The awe and intensity of bikes…
There are actual road-racing events such as the belief-defying Isle of Man TT and Northern Ireland’s North West 200. Away from the trials of running on public highways, domestic track-based series such as British Superbikes (BSB) or the imminent MotoAmerica series hold our gaze. Looking to international competition takes racing fans to World Superbikes (SBK), MotoGP and endurance events that have been held at revered circuits such as Suzuka, Spa and Le Mans. In France, the Bol d’Or continues in 2015 with a return to Circuit Paul Ricard this year after a 14-year spell at Magny Cours… and all of that’s before we even look at Motocross or Speedway!
Here’s our first selection from the hit-and-miss world of video game motorcycle racing!
