If you’re a PC gamer still playing Need for Speed ProStreet, you’re one of an elite band. Apparently less than 1% of all peak online players across all EA titles are using the ProStreet online servers.
As a result, it’s been announced that the servers for the PC version will be retired on April 15, 2011. There’s no word on the various console versions. So if you want to revisit that particular title, make the most of it for the next couple of weeks. NfS: ProStreet was originally released in November 2007, so it’s had a reasonable run. And in a particularly useless bit of trivia, the 11th game in the Need for Speed series was apparently also the last to use CD-Roms for PC before switching to the DVD format with Need for Speed: Undercover.
