After a sustained three week-long beta testing program, SCS Software has finalised its latest update to Euro Truck Simulator 2. The revision takes ETS2 to Version 1.11.1 and is available to all users. Steam users can let the client automatically update the game and direct purchasers can visit SCS Software’s Update page for a range of download options that will bring any earlier version up to the current package number.
Euro Truck Sim 2 V1.11 thoughts…
An immediate reaction to the list of changes is that the SCS team appears to have left little untouched. Away from behind-the-scenes code, the most notable ‘main’ change is the arrival of the seat adjustment that was announced in April with a look at an early GUI element. With point-of-view an almost standard in-game option for years and Euro Truck 2’s view never feeling quite right, the lack of such control was a rare, if slight negative point in the early haulage experience. The fantastic news with this update is that SCS have extended the options beyond those suggested in the early ‘teaser’ image.
We can see that the possibilities for movement were perhaps sufficient but few there. Not only that but the traditional look of the interface was definitely looking a bit old.
Move on a couple of months and development added to the lower/raise and fore/aft movement with three-way positioning of the virtual driver’s head. Maintaining the appearance of ETS2’s interface, the Seat Adjustment overlay nonetheless saw a refresh with the adoption of head and seat icons.
It just needs a similar element for field of view now!
As passingly mentioned in the change notes below, the interface has more generally received a lick of paint. Little touches throughout the UI have refreshed Euro Truck 2’s appearance with attention having reached even the loading screen. It’s a particularly small change but is more attractive and includes both the time of day in the game and the truck’s status as the saved point loads.
With the appreciated POV addition covered for this Euro Time-Sink 2 game, here’s a reduced form of the change list. To pore over the entire run of revisions, pay a visit to ETS2’s Patch Notes page.

Modding
The mod revisions have a separate set of comprehensive notes.
- Significantly increased number of cities supported on the UI map
- Maximum driving time and sleeping time are configurable in economy data
- Added red light offence tolerance to police data
- Air resistance and friction is configurable in physics.sii
- Renamed some traffic rules related to city areas
Everything went smoothly here with the update on a mod-free installation. The upgrade and the first session on the road – played via keyboard this time, no less! – were incident-free! Not that the driver didn’t have some plenty of near-misses…
True to its history with Euro Truck Simulator 2, SCS Software’s mainland trucking development continues even as the team develop an American counterpart. Steam Achievements, Oculus Rift support, extended territories – there is a lot more to come!
Why can’t everything be supported like this?!
